The What
The Creature Shop has worked extensively with Lady Gaga over the years, creating various characters and performance pieces for the Monster Ball and Born This Way tours; her performance at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards; and music videos such as G.U.Y. – An ARTPOP Film. Projects include a giant monster that attacked the stage; a fantastical unicorn puppet that Gaga rode; her much buzzed-about incubation “egg” vessel; the wings of a fallen angel; and a living dress that sprouted wings.
The Why
Gaga’s love and utilization of practical fantasy elements in all that she does creates a perfect synergy to collaborate creatively with the Creature Shop.
The How
The Creature Shop worked closely with Gaga’s creative team to realize her vision for each piece created, keeping in mind the practical restrictions of touring and live performance.
Once each design was approved, the Creature Shop created a mockup for size and scale reference before moving on to the full build, seeking input from Gaga and her creative team each step of the way.
Once completed, the Creature Shop supported rehearsals, training Gaga’s team to operate and maintain the performance pieces.
